be a barre star

If you’ve read a celebrity gossip magazine (don’t worry, we’ve all done it) you’ve heard about barre. But it’s not just for famous women we know by first name – barre is a low-impact, energizing, and effective workout for just about anyone.

define. lift. sculpt.

Barre is a fun way to design a tighter tush. Through isolated movements, it builds long, lean muscle while improving posture, grace, and flexibility. So yes, Barre Body Fit classes are effective – but because they are choreographed to great music and performed in a motivating group environment, the workout doesn’t feel like ‘work.’

yoga + dance + pilates

It’s the best of all worlds. Barre takes the focus and individual practice of yoga, melds it with the isolated movements of pilates, and wraps it all up in the choreography and grace of a dance class.

New to barre? So is the whole city. Don’t be intimidated; we won’t bite. Here are a few frequently asked questions.

what should I wear for a barre class?

To prevent injuries and help you get the most out of those precise, controlled movements, grip socks are mandatory in the studio. If you have your own, bring ‘em – otherwise, we sell them for $17 a pair.
Otherwise, yoga or dance wear is appropriate. Whatever you can get comfortable and move in.

what should I bring to a barre class?

You’re gonna sweat, so bring water to stay hydrated. We provide everything else.

I have never taken a barre class. What should I expect?

Be prepared to sweat, and have fun. You don’t need a background in dance, Pilates, or yoga to attend, and barre is suitable for people of all shapes, sizes and fitness levels.
Each barre class incorporates elements of dance, free weights, and mat exercises. It’s harder than it looks but it’s low-impact and if you come regularly, it gets easier every time.
